“Hi! I wanted to update, I adopted Casanova on Saturday. Little buddy was confided to the bathroom for the first day then went and hid under our bed. Yesterday he finally started to come out for pets and loving if I lay on the floor by the bed. He’s such a sweetie. Thank you for adopting him to us, he seems to be slowly improving. which I understand a kitty would be scared going to a new home. My cat Kira seems to ignore him but are doing just fine with her going in and out of the bedroom. I’m happy I cant wait to finalize the adoption. I will come in next week. Thank you guys, I know heather was very excited when we picked Casanova. Also my girls love him, he likes to be pet. Unlike Kira Haha, She is a little nipper. I’m so happy. Also thank you so much for the class for adoption. At first i thought it was weird, like “why need a class cuz i already own a cat. ” But! my mind was quickly changed when i took the class. There’s a lot of valuable information and I think it makes a huge difference for family’s and their new adoptees. Thank you guys so much.”

“Almond made her self comfortable, in her new home, in just a few short hours. When introduced to our other cat ‘Cinder’, she pretty much ignored her. She ate, drank, and used the litter box, with in the first hour, of our bringing her home. She enjoys running about our home, with ‘Cinder’ following her from room to room. She seems quite happy, with her new home, and is adjusting very well. Thanks!”

“Oahs is fantastic! I adopted Cuddles from oahs almost 2 years ago and every few months she needs her (harmless) cyst drained. Oahs lets me bring her in and takes care of it for me! I always appreciate their help and support!”

“When I went online I was impressed by all of the animals then I saw Luigi the rabbit and I wanted to meet Luigi right away. So when I went to meet Luigi everyone was very nice and then I submitted application to adopt Luigi and a few days later a call came in and I got Luigi and when I went in I got some very valuable information on rabbit health and I appreciate that and now I have Luigi and we are good friends. Thanks OAHS!”

“Misha & Gretchen (kittens) are doing great overall! They settled into their new environment fairly quickly. It has been many years since getting a new forever pet, so the tips provided during the adoption session were very helpful.”

“I can’t thank you enough for introducing us to Sasha. We planned to adopt from a different shelter at first, but we weren’t impressed with how they handled their animals. When I told you what kind of cat we were looking for, you immediately had a list for me to meet – everyone knew every cat and every personality, and I can’t say even close to the same about the other shelter. I’m so happy you require a class to adopt a pet, regardless of people’s experience with animals. I learned so much, and I’m so happy to know you’re teaching people that a pet isn’t just an accessory and showing the right way to care for them, despite what people may have learned from friends/family/TV/etc. I will continue to recommend you to everyone I know and sing your praises to anyone who will listen. And again, thank you for Sasha – she’s my best little friend, and I don’t know what I’d do without her!”

“We recently adopted a bonded pair of kittens from this facility and not only were they clean and organized but they had an actual adoption process. In our past experiences with shelters we would go and pick out an animal and bring it home that day. We really liked that they actually took the time to make sure you were a good fit for the animals. They were very friendly and made sure you had all your questions answered. They gave us all the past health information on them and the surrendering papers so we knew all the information they knew on the kittens. They were extremely affordable and helpful! If we ever need to adopt again in the future, this is where we’d go:)”

–Dana G, Adopter

“I can’t say enough good things about OAHS. They truly care about the animals and want what’s best for them. I visited a few times searching for two bonded cats. They led us to Vincent and Jules (formerly Ziggles) and it was meant to be. I couldn’t be happier with the boys and can’t thank OAHS for allowing us to bring them into our home.”

–Whitney P, Adopter

“OAHS has been excellent to work with. Where our pup was concerned, they made sure that he was ready to go with his vaccinations and fixing before we took him home. Our dog Moose was well treated by OAHS prior to our adoption. My family was treated well by all staff members, and we were impressed by the education provided by their experts during the adoption process. We are deeply grateful to OAHS, and we highly recommend working with them.”

“Our son adopted 2 kittens Thursday and we were totally impressed with the process. He loves the kittens and is having so much fun with them.”

“Wonderful process for adopting our cats, everything went so smooth and we now have the best pets anybody could ask for. Cat class very helpful, I can not say enough about this facility.”

“In July we decided to adopt a dog. Everyone at OAHS were amazing! Lots of long talks about available dogs over the back desk, and trying to find the right fit for our home. After meeting several dogs we found Woody (AKA Dave Haywood). Ann was incredible in helping us prepare for life with a dog for the first time! We are so in love with this big boy! He is such a smart, goofy, gentle soul. Thank you for all you do!”

“Our son set his heart on getting mice and spent months saving up enough chore money to afford them. We are so glad that we looked at the OAHS site and found “Momma Cheese” and her daughters. He is so in love with them. To anyone considering a pet for their child, consider adopting from OAHS and don’t count out mice and small mammals. He learned a lot by talking to the staff before adopting, and he now has more responsibility and accountability than he ever did. We make him save up to buy his own food an bedding, clean the cage weekly, feed and provide water, and research ways to enrich their environment. The mice need new things to explore and places to nest and hide their food in order to be healthy. It is a ton of fun to watch them every time he changes something in their habitat or stashes a treat for them to find. Two of our mice had special needs but with careful monitoring of what they had for bedding and food, and by keeping them occupied with habitat changes, both of them have healed and are happy little mice. My son takes great pride in his time researching how to keep them healthy and the fact that he has been able to provide them a loving home. Thank you, thank you, to the OAHS staff for being a part of that journey, life lesson, and resource of information!”

“Have always heard very good things about the OAHS, and finally decided to take a look for myself. All I can say is WOW! Super friendly and knowlegeable staff, clean facility. Will definitely return to adopt another animal!”

–Bria R, Adopter

“Yes the adoption session was very beneficial. I have a companion again! Everything was so clean – inside and out. Staff and volunteers were very knowledgeable. Rogue’s new name is Eli. The T stands for Tennessee where he came from.”

–Sandra W, Adopter

“I wanted to compliment the staff at the Oshkosh Area Humane Society, especially Ann. My husband and I adopted a dog on April 2 who we loved and still do. Because of some unforeseen issues we reluctantly returned her to OAHS. I was very emotionally upset. Ann was so caring and understanding of my state of mind. Last week she called to say “Gracie” had been adopted which is helping me move forward Oshkosh and the surrounding communities are fortunate to have the OAHS that displays an outstanding commitment to the welfare of animals and the people who love them. Thank you!”

–Sue and Neil V, Adopters

“All our questions were answered at the adoption session and many helpful suggestions and hints were offered. I wish I had had this years ago when we adopted our 2nd cat. Our first cat was from a farm. Since our cats have passed away we had been cat-less for a number of years. All great information! Also helpful knowing about the free nail trimming and nail caps available for purchase and application by appointment. Keep it up guys!”

–Mary V, Adopter

“We adopted our first dog from OAHS in 2010. Willow was a senior dog and when she passed in 2014, Ann once again helped us find another dog. We had always wanted to rescue a puppy mill dog and now we have a mama dog that was saved from a puppy mill. We can’t adopt more pets but we will continue our financial support of OAHS. We are blessed to have the dog we have now.”

–Frank M and Elaine S, Adopters

“The adoption session was very beneficial. It was a great time to learn and ask questions. We would highly recommend OAHS – great facility and great people especially, Ann, Bruce, Leah & Susan. Everything at the shelter looked good and well kept.”
